2010 Events Calendar

Look through the Calender below for an event or program that interests you and come see us for that program. All programs are educational and fun for the whole family. Come experience life at the turn of the 19th century on Oakley Plantation. We are sure you will find something that you like from Open Hearth Cooking, Nature Walks, Historic crafts, or Life on a Plantation.

Spring

March 19-21--Audubon Pilgrimage--10:00 AM until 4:00 PM 

Our annual Spring pilgrimage program held in conjunction with the West Feliciana Historical Society. Costumed guided house tours along with period craft demonstrations are held throughout the day.

May 15--Tea and Sensibility--10:00 AM & 4:00 PM

Explore the world of Jane Austin and America in the year 1821. Social etiquette, the language of the fan, tea time, lawn games, and dances of the period are just some of the demonstrations on this day.

 

June 12th--The Day the War Stopped--1:00- 4 PM 

An afternoon of the American Civil War. Uniform talks, black powder musket demonstrations, and camp life are some of the experiences to be had on this day.

 

 

 

 

March 13, April 10th, & May 8th--Nature Discovery

At 10AM and Noon each day visitors are invited to participate in an animal discovery program that introduces one of the sites resident creatures. At 1:30 PM and 2:30 PM park staff will lead a tour of the park grounds to discover the many plants and habitats that make up Audubon State Historic Site.

March 14th--Colonial St. Francisville

At Noon and 2 PM there will be a talk on the towns of St. Francisville and Bayou Sara during the years leading up to the 1810 West Florida Rebellion.  

April 11th--Clothing of West Florida

At Noon and 2 PM there will be a talk on the clothing of Spanish West Florida in 1810 in the museum theatre. At 1PM and 3 PM there will be a costume demonstration and discussion in the museum theater led by park staff.

May 9th--Fathers of the Revolution

At Noon and 2PM there will be a talk in the museum theater on the leaders of the 1810 West Florida Rebellion.
